“The Forbidden” explores transformation as both a political and material process. It considers how forms shift, fracture, or take on new meaning when subjected to pressure. Through different mediums, the works reflect on divergence as a condition shaped by repetition, force, and change.

Among the works presented is Studies of Pierced Flags, a series that examines the behavior of national and political flags through 3D rendering and simulation. Each flag is digitally altered with a distinct type of perforation, then exposed to the same simulated environmental conditions. By observing and comparing their movements, the series investigates how symbolic structures respond differently to rupture, depending on their internal composition and the nature of the disruption.

The resulting images are printed as cyanotypes, a photographic process historically associated with scientific and architectural reproduction. This medium bridges the gap between digital experimentation and historical methods of documentation, grounding the work in both speculative and archival traditions.

The series approaches the flag as a carrier of collective identity, and examines how interference reshapes its visual and political legibility. Through variation and repetition, the work explores how systems of meaning are sustained, fractured, or reconfigured under pressure.
